Richard Morris Racing is proud to be supported by GayRealEstate.com: LGBTQ+ real estate agents giving back to our community
In 2024, Richard Morris Racing has again been sponsored by GayRealEstate.com, continuing a partnership which started in 2020 when the Founding CEO, Jeff Hammerberg, reached out to Richard offering to support him in his efforts to promote LGBTQ+ visibility on and off track.
Now under the leadership of Scott Helms and Jorge Alonso, the US-based firm has maintained this support through the categories Richard has raced in from Sports 1000 prototypes to the Britcar British Endurance Championship with Praga, two years of campaigning across Europe with Revolution Race Cars culminating in winning the 2023 European Sports Prototype Cup and Dutch Supercar Challenge Zandvoort Trophy of the Dunes, to most recently driving with Aston Martin Racing official partner team Forsetti Motorsport in the V8 Vantage GT4 car.
Through this time, Richard has continued to be a champion for the LGBTQ+ community in motorsport: as the Co-Founder & CEO of Racing Pride, Chair of Motorsport UK’s LGBTQ+ Expert Committee, and an ambassador for US-based charity Athlete Ally. Racing Pride has become the world leading movement promoting LGBTQ+ inclusion in the sector, with partnerships with five Formula One teams as well as major companies in the space, relationships with national governing bodies, Pride Hubs at events from grassroots to Grand Prix, and ambassadors and registered community members spanning dozens of countries globally.
GayRealEstate.com shares Richard’s values completely. The website is able to connect LGBTQ+ people and those who care for them with real estate agents who are proud to work with and for the LGBTQ+ community to give homebuyer representation and homeseller competitive market analysis. Jeff Hammerberg embarked on the project having experienced ‘quiet homophobia’ while working in the industry in the early 1990s, believing it would enable other members of our LGBTQ+ community to avoid discomfort, uncertainty, unenthusiastic representation, or even hostility when buying or selling a home.
The most impressive aspect of GayRealEstate.com is its Giving Back initiative. As well as supporting Richard Morris Racing, every month it provides financial assistance to a range of LGBTQ+ non-profit organisations as well as offering local grants and gifts to communities nationwide. Its Giving Back programme currently supports at least 22 LGBTQ+ non-profits – with specialities ranging from crisis intervention and suicide prevention to public advocacy and legal representation – with regular financial assistance.
Richard said: “I always get asked a lot about the GayRealEstate.com logo on my car and overalls and I’m proud to tell people about what the business does and why I’m partnered with it. Based in the US, through its core business of connecting the LGBTQ+ community with real estate agents, it provides an important service for a community which is far from guaranteed to have that support elsewhere in the market. Beyond that, though, I’m so happy to be associated with a business which truly shares my values – the Giving Back initiative through which GayRealEstate.com supports local and national communities and LGBTQ+ non-profits is a real testament to the sincerity of its commitment to LGBTQ+ people. I’m so thankful to Jeff, and now to Scott and Jorge, for working with me and believing in what I do to represent the LGBTQ+ community both on track and off-track through Racing Pride.”
